Gold, silver and other precious metals are priced in troy ounces. The Weights and Measures Act 1985 defines the troy ounce as 0.0311034768 kg (31.10 g). The ounce on kitchen scales is the avoirdupois ounce, 1/16 of a pound, or 28.35 g.
So if you weigh gold on kitchen scales in ounces, use the "everyday ounce" column, or switch your scales to grams.
